FIRST WORLD YOUTH COMPOSERS COMPETITION 2025 (Dec. 2025)
1. Objectives
1.1. To provide a platform for discovering and developing young talents in the field of composition.
1.2. To encourage creativity and innovation in contemporary music.
1.3. To offer participants the opportunity to hear their works performed and recorded by professional musicians.
1.4. To support young composers by promoting their work.
2. Categories
2.1. Participants are divided into age groups, with age determined as of September 1, 2025:
• Group A – Up to 7 years old – Composition duration: up to 5 minutes
• Group B – 8–9 years old – Composition duration: up to 5 minutes
• Group C – 10–13 years old – Composition duration: up to 6 minutes
• Group D – 14–18 years old – Composition duration: up to 7 minutes
• Group E – 19–26 years old – Composition duration: up to 8 minutes
• Group F – 27 years and older – Composition duration: up to 10 minutes
3. Genres
Participants may submit works in the following categories:
• Category 1 – Solo instrument without accompaniment (for any instrument from the list below)
• Category 2 – Solo instrument with piano accompaniment (for any instrument from the list below)
• Category 3 – Ensembles of 2 to 5 instruments (in any combination from the list below, including two pianos)
• Category 4 – String ensemble (up to 5 first violins, 3 second violins, 3 violas, 2 cellos, 1 double bass — piano and drum set are allowed)
• Category 5 – Solo voice with piano accompaniment (soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, bass)
• Category 6 – Solo voice with string orchestra (soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, bass)
• Category 7 – Solo traditional instruments (from the list below) with or without piano accompaniment
4. Participation Requirements
4.1. Compositions must be original, unpublished, and not previously performed or presented in other competitions, public events, or recordings.
4.2. Each participant must submit the following materials:
• Score in PDF format (computer-generated or hand-written, but clear and scanned) sent to the competition email: youngcomposer@bisspro.com. The title, composer’s name, and lyricist (if any) must be clearly visible.
• Individual instrumental parts in PDF format (computer-generated or hand-written, clear and scanned).
• Audio recording of the composition. If no live recording is available, a MIDI file is accepted.
• Completed Application Form.
• Proof of Participation Fee payment (scanned or screenshot).
• Copy of ID card or identification document.
5. Participation Fees
5.1. Each participant may compete in multiple categories but can only submit one composition per category.
5.2. Fees vary depending on the number of categories:
• One category – €100
• Two categories – €180 (€100 for the first category + €80 for the second)
• Each additional category – €50 (€100 + €80 + €50 + €50, etc.)
5.3. Materials must be sent by September 1, 2025. Late submissions will be disqualified. Fees are non-refundable.
5.4. Payments can be made via bank transfer or PayPal. Details will be provided upon completing the Application Form.
6. Evaluation
6.1. A professional jury will evaluate each work and participant that meets the requirements.
6.2. The scoring system is based on 100 points, divided as follows:
• Grand Prix – 100 points
• First Prize – 90–99.99 points
• Second Prize – 80–89.99 points
• Third Prize – 70–79.99 points
• Laureate – 65–69.99 points
• Certificate of Participation – Below 65 points
7. Prizes
7.1. Grand Prix winners will receive:
• €200 cash prize
• Professional video recording of the awarded piece during a concert
• Professional audio studio recording, which will be used for promotional purposes in future editions of the competition
• Certificate
7.2. First, Second, and Third Prize winners will receive Certificates, and at the jury’s discretion, some First Prize winners may have their works performed in concert or recorded in a studio.
7.3. Laureates will receive a Certificate.
7.4. All other participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.
7.5. The jury reserves the right not to award the Grand Prix in all categories. Its decisions are final and non-contestable.
7.6. The jury will include distinguished composers, musicians, and conductors with extensive experience.
7.7. All awarded audio and video recordings will be uploaded to the competition’s website under the “Archive” section and prominently displayed for future promotions. Selected recordings may be shared on social media to reach a wider audience.
7.8. Remote interviews with winners may be conducted for media outlets.
8. Results and Performances
8.1. Results will be announced on bisspro.com on October 1, 2025, and via social media.
8.2. The Grand Prix winners’ concert date will be announced on October 1, 2025.
8.3. Grand Prix winners are invited to attend the concert. Organizers do not cover transportation, accommodation, or personal expenses but may provide assistance with relevant information.
8.4. Participants agree that the organizers may use their compositions for promotional purposes related to the competition.
8.5. All submitted materials remain the property of the authors, but they grant the organizers the right to perform and broadcast the works for free.
9. Additional Information
9.1. By submitting the documents, parents of participants under 18 give their consent for the participant’s name, photo, and short bio to be publicly announced.
9.2. Winners are not allowed to use the competition recordings for commercial purposes or official media broadcasts without explicit permission from the organizers. Sharing on social media is allowed but must include a text provided by the organizers, mentioning the competition name, performers, conductor, etc.
9.3. Authors cannot contest the musical interpretation of their works, as it is subjective and left to the performers’ discretion. The organizers guarantee the participation of highly professional musicians.
9.4. Certificates can be received personally or electronically (PDF format). Original documents can be mailed via courier at the recipient’s expense.
9.5. Participants may send a portrait photo upon registration for inclusion in certificates. If no photo is provided, the documents will be issued without one.
